NC4 - Enamour

"Human," the dapper creature casually affirmed, towering over the car, peering down at Diana.

She was speechless. It was an alien. A real life alien. Talking to her. Diana stared up at its strange face, her mouth slowly bending into an excited grin.

"H-hello! Hi!" she stammered out, almost unable to contain her glee.

"Hello, hi," the alien mimicked, slowly walking around the car over to Diana. "What are you called?" it asked.

"Dee! Call me Dee!" she shouted. "I... I can't believe you're real! And... and here! Talking to me!"

The tall creature snickered. "It is good to meet you, Dee. I am Zev."

"Zev! Zev. Got it."

Zev gently sat down on the sidewalk, leaning back against the nearby wall. They were still taller than Diana, even when sitting down. "You're the first one that hasn't run."

"Run? Oh, right, haha. I guess you are pretty big! And scary too, I suppose." She couldn't keep her head and hands still as she talked, repeatedly glancing at Zev and then off to the side again. "That's okay, though! So, like, u-uh..."

Zev laughed some more, showing their toothy smile. "I've never seen someone like you. You're very happy."

"Y-yeah! I've... I mean, this is so cool! A real alien!" she beamed, reaching over to grab her notepad resting just on the roof of the car beside her. "I've always dreamed of meeting you, this is just so cool..." she trailed off.

"What kind of person are you?" Zev asked while adjusting their hat, watching her frantically scribble on the notepad.

"What kind? Oh, uh, well, I don't really have a job, if that's what you mean. But I want to be an investigator one day! You know, like, a paranormal investigator. Like, you! You're paranormal." She paused to take a quick breath, pointing her pencil at Zev. "Uh, is it okay if I ask you some questions? Or no, wait! Maybe I could get a picture of you first!"

Zev leaned away just a bit, shocked by how energetic this person was. "Okay. You can take a picture of me."

Diana's eyes widened, and she started squeaking with anticipation. "Yes! Okay, give me one sec, I just have to..." she replied while searching her pocket for her phone, placing her notepad on the ground at the same time. Just as frantically as she was writing on the notepad, she quickly swiped and tapped at the phone's screen, until she finally announced, "there we go!" once she got to the camera program.

"Now, here, I'll just come over here, and..." she started, walking over to Zev. Once close enough, she spun around, ready to take a selfie with the alien.

"Say cheese! Or, if you don't know what that means, maybe, smile!" she announced, closing her eyes while making a peace sign with her free hand.

Click! Diana's evidence of alien life was solidified with one of the best selfies of her life.

"Awesome!" she shouted to Zev, wheeling around to see the alien in the same casual pose it was sitting in before. She hadn't even seen the photo yet, but it didn't matter in the slightest. She knew it'd be good. She skipped over to the roof of the car where her other belongings were sitting, taking a brief moment to look at the picture.

There she was in her green hoodie and matching toque, looking as happy as she imagined herself. Zev was just behind her, with their hands barely an inch away from grabbing Diana, complete with a huge, toothy, open smile just above her head, tongue draped down just behind her.

Oh. That was freaky. However, any off-putting feelings of fear she felt about the picture were quickly overrun by the prospect of how cool that photo looked, and how envious her friends would be when she showed it off.

"Ooh, this is so cool!" she repeated again under her breath. "Hey, Zev, are you going to stay around for a while? I want to ask you some questions about yourself!"

Zev tilted their head, putting a few fingers on their chin. "I think I will stay."

"Yeah! Oh, and hey," Diana said while picking up her notepad and lunchbox, "do you want some food? I have some here," she explained, tapping her tin container, decorated with a cute bee on the front.

"Ah! Ah! I love food. Give me some!" Zev became very eager at the drop of that magic word.

"Sure!" she started, sitting down beside Zev against the sidewalk wall. "Do you like flat bread with honey and gravy?"

"I eat everything." Zev smiled again.

"Cool!" She unbuttoned the lunchbox and pulled out a large piece of bread covered in a questionable combination of condiments. As she handed it to Zev, they yanked it out of her hand, devouring it without even taking it out of the plastic wrap. Diana didn't even have the chance to warn them about the wrapper.

"Well, let's get started!" she declared, pen and paper at the ready. She subconsciously hoped that plastic wouldn't hurt Zev.
