CITE+SCAN is ranked #1 on Zynima's sight chart. There has been some controversy over whether CITE and SCAN should be different entries on the chart, but no major decision has been made and they remain as one entity on the chart.

Appearance & traits

As a cluster of 115 quadrillion nanomachines, CITE+SCAN can manipulate their physical form with ease. Their preferred physical form is a one-column stack of four 5-foot cubes with two matching cubes on either side, forming the shape of a cross. Aside from this regular form, they often take on countless different shapes with different quantities and sizes of nano-clusters. Depending on which personality is present, a different type of glowing eye will be visible on their "body" in some location.

CITE+SCAN is also capable of flight. They can hover up to an indefinite height and move around freely while doing so.

Personality

CITE+SCAN has two distinct personalities: CITE and SCAN.

CITE is the calmer and more feminine side of the two, identifiable as a blue outline of a half-open eye located on CITE+SCAN's body. She thinks rationally and logically, but often has a hard time conveying herself because she has a noticeable stuttering problem and is a bit shy when interacting with machines outside of her collective entity. Despite being slightly reclusive around people she doesn't know well, she is the more social of the two, and enjoys painting alien landscapes and cityscapes.

SCAN is the more energetic and masculine of the two, identifiable as a red outline of an open eye visible somewhere on CITE+SCAN. He thinks more impulsively and instinctively than CITE and is much more energetic than she is. SCAN is also prone to fits of frustration, which may be apparent in his art, as his paintings are usually much more abstract and rushed compared to CITE's.

It is possible for the two personalities to both be active at the same time, but such an occasion is rare and usually only occurs in important or drastic situations. This form is represented by two yellow eye outlines, one within the other. Both personalities will be present in this combined form, but CITE's stuttering and SCAN's high energy will both be absent.

As a whole, CITE+SCAN is kind, quirky, and enjoys being around people they consider friends. They're also very absent-minded and whimsical as well.
